Fullscreen mode is simply a disaster...

GoogleCodeExporter opened this issue · 10 comments

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to full screen in just about any game, there are bound to be problems...
Like in Mario Kart 64 for instance, it lags out, and can even hard-lock your
system... Wonderful. Fullscreen has been a disaster in any plugin based on
Rice's... including Rice Plugin itself. Something tells me whatever relates to
it needs to just be entirely rewritten.

I've never seen in my life any single plugin having more bloody damn problems
with simply running in fullscreen than I've seen in Rice and anything based on
it... (Like Mudlord's version, etc)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The expected output is playing in fullscreen shouldn't even be fractionally
different than running windowed(except for the fact it is filling your screen,
duh.)... but instead, this broken piece of trash plugin falls flat on it's
face, with unpredictable results. I'd use another plugin, but, I have no choice
when it comes to certain game compatibility.

The frustration and constant losing clumps of hair never ends, as the onslaught
of crashes, freezes, and graphical anomalies that occur when trying to run
anything fullscreen keeps cropping up everywhere...

And no, this is not just my PC, this has happened on every computer I use this
on. I highly doubt it will help any with that considered, but I am running a
GeForce GTX 460...

Also, in before "then don't run fullscreen"... Look, that is useless when you
are trying to organize tournaments on a TV screen connected to a PC...

Problems with switching to fullscreen are noted, and I am currently cleaning up
the source code in which I want to re-write the fullscreen code due to problems
you have also sighted above.

Ah, thanks for the response. I apologize if I came off like a bit of a dork, I
was just kind of frustrated at the time. But, my point still does stand. Good
to know it's being cleaned up finally, had dealt with these problems for years.

Ahhh yeah, the DX9 version that I've being using was way to broken for me to
fix, the rewrite that im working on at the moment runs off of a more
functioning base, it goes to full screen fine but there are still some serious
problems with the switching to fullscreen but im slowly fixing them up.

Yep, as of 1.2 (Jan release) fullscreen is totally black, no matter how I tweak
the settings.
