Graphical artifacts behind transparency on GNOME

I ran into heavy graphical artifacts when adding transparency on GNOME:

Even after using Blur my Shell, the blur looked bad because of the artifacts.

However, I found a solution that I wanted to document here: you can set the opactity for applications to below 255 (ie. 254) it will somehow affect a change in application rendering that seems to resolve this issue.
