The Installing section of the README defers to nQuake server, but that project only documents use on Linux.

It's exciting that the Prebuilt Binaries section of the README lists Windows support. But I'm not finding any documentation and how to install and deploy on Windows.

This GitHub Issue is Done once the README includes instructions for how to actually play via an MVDSV server running on Windows using the prebuilt binaries.

I wrote the description above to be terse and precise. I hope it's a fit for this project's process. Thank you for all your effort on this volunteer project!

Edit: I'm personally interested in Windows 10, FWIW. Even for just LAN play; I've failed with all other server options I've found so far (eg running a server vis the MULTIPLAYER menu in ezQuake, QuakeSpasm, QuakeSpasm-spiked, etc. I was able to connect to a public server, but want to run my own for friend play.) Thanks again.

You are right. Those instructions are not helping... Time to update them.

In the meanwhile, just get the Windows installer of nquake from https://www.nquake.com/.
If I am not mistaken, the installer will take care of getting the latest version of mvdsv. If not, and it is using the one within the installer, just get the latest one from https://builds.quakeworld.nu/mvdsv/ yourself, and just replace the mvdsv.exe in the nquake server install directory.

I hope you get it going. If not, I suggest join the Quakeworld discord server, where you can expect real-time responses and help for anything QW related.

Thanks, Toma. Yes, I eventually noticed that the README's Installing link is specifically to the https://github.com/nQuake/server-linux repo, and that there are other repos in that project, some for Windows.

(An up-date for anyone else who ends up here out of confusion.) I did ultimately find nQuake's front page and downloaded the Windows install from there. The use instructions are still quite thin, and plenty of things that were seemingly supposed to work didn't (eg the FFA entrypoint, out-of-the-box). But I did reach my ultimate goal 🙌: if I run the server via the KTX entrypoint, I can connect over my LAN from others computers running ezQuake. I'm optimistically expecting to even connect over WAN once I forward the appropriate single port on my router. Crucially, the /votecoop command in the client's console will let my friend and I play a coop campaign via this server, which was our whole goal :)

Glad to hear that you managed to gets some episode maps cleared with your mates! ;).

Have you - by any chance - made some notes during the procedure? :D
We could update the readme part with your findings...

Not because I am lazy, but many of us, who using this mode, are doing quake stuff since it was release, which is 25 years ago. So there are lot of knowledge that is obvious to us, but not so trivial to a newcomer. So it is a bit of a brainstorming about how deep the readme/how-to should go.

You just managed to actual start from scratch, and setup a quakeworld server with KTX mod in "notime" (sorry, couldn't resist :)).
So you are the perfect candidate to write down this 'journey', and help the next fella, who ever comes across this mod for the "best game ever made".
