Cannot open file with extra spaces at the beginning or end of cell text

In my program I have to read the contents of an excel file and remove extra spaces in each cell. But I can't open a file with extra spaces.
Displays: warning: QZip: EndOfDirectory not found.
How should I solve this problem? I cannot manually erase these spaces because the program must provide such an option.

It was problem of my VMware
