Docs 'selected' example shows no difference

On the site page for 'selected', located at http://davidtheclark.github.io/scut/selected.html
the first box should should color change on hover and focus with the second box changing on hover, focus and active but both boxes are behaving identically.

Well they're behaving identically to your mouse because the :active state is only occurring when you are alredy hovering and/or focusing on the element. If you open up devtools and toggle the element state that way, you'll see the difference.
Got any ideas for a more clear example?
