continues to block chat window from opening/appearing

The earlier version of the mod - after the last game update, the lootgoblin version, and now the most update to date version all interfere with bringing up the chat/text window. have to hit enter anywhere from 1 to over a dozen times to get the chat window and cursor to show up so I can type.
when I disable the mod the text window works just fine
