Hiding replies to reply

I feel that it's at the moment a bit hard to see who's replying to who when every reply is in a list.

This is not a problem for small discussions, but for larger threads it quickly turns confusing.
Image given is an example of a situation where I could not determine who replied to who

I'm guessing it was made for a reason (and people other than me might like it this way).
I therefore suggest an option in the configuration file which if enabled makes it so that only the main replies to each post is shown.

Reading what people replied to a reply could then be accessed by pressing the thread key.
I think this would help (at least for me) to more easily digest popular posts.

I'd be willing to try and implement it myself if you want to.
