I feel like Rfast could be a good candidate of NumFOCUS sponsored projects. You might want to apply for it.

We had apply 2 years ago in a project funded from CRAN. Their reply was "there is not something important to fund". Guess who took the funds...
I will apply to NumFOCUS since I haven't heard it before but I don't expect help from anyone. Unfortunately, Rfast has not friends. Yet.
