allow filtering paths by whether they flow from the MOC to the note or contain 'upstream' links

I seem to remember that the "shortest path" would only utilise links FROM Home MOC TO currently open note. But now it uses links going FROM my current note, which are often side-links, and which makes for a lot of strange paths (See pictures).

Is this a new thing?

Is there an option to toggle so that "shortest path" only uses links FROM the central note, TO the current note?

This has always been like this, but i would like to create an option to at least weigh the paths by how linear they are some day.
I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to exclude non-unidirectional paths completely, but i might make it so they are hidden by default and can be shown by clicking a button.

Thanks for clarifying that for me, Robin!

For my own purposes, a toggle in the addon settings to "exclude upstream links from the "shortest path"" would be perfect.

Although I'm not sure if it would be easy to implement, or if anyone else would use it but me!
