thoughts about project versioning

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
currently project version is SEMVER. Due to the fact, that extension does not have major items to be delivered, but rolling update approach. I just wondering if that versioning is right to that project, or change it to more SAP way, using YYMM.patch approach.
That is the same approach which SAP Commerce Cloud currently have.
SAP Commerce 1811, 1905, 2105...
What do you think about that?
