Freeze when opening verse vocabulary by hovering over a verse number

at www.STEPBible.org, when the cursor rests on a verse number, the Verse Vocabulary box should pop up. In some browsers in some installations, this popup starts opening as a small box, but before it enlarges, it freezes. See https://files.slack.com/files-pri/TAGL9UYGH-FN1JQE9KK/image.png
Patrick reported that "After about 20 seconds, the browser will show an alert to say the page is unresponsive. If you click "Wait" in the above screen, the page will freeze up, using 100% of one of your CPU. The only way to stop the browser is to Control-Alt-Delete to go to Task Manager to kill Chrome. "
A workaround: Turn off Verse Vocabulary in Options.
The browsers affected:

  • Chrome in Mac - two reporters. I asked one to try Safari - which works fine)
  • Chrome in PC - Patrick says this happens on 3 of his Windows machines, but it doesn't happen on mine.

This was given a temp fix by Patrick. Now it has a permanent fix.
