I'd love to see this implemented in batch mode for single files :)

I don't think this is a good idea. Sometimes extension might be the only difference between two files. Extensions also hold important information.
Example:

Some Show - S01E01.mkv
Some Show - S01E01.srt
Some Show - S01E01.exe (malicious)
