DAC Board: Incorrect Pinout on U9 Linear Regulator

Opened this issue · 0 comments

On the DAC REV B, component U9 (a -15V/-12V linear regulator) has an incorrect schematic symbol and footprint. The datasheet specifies that this component has the following pinout:

  • Pin 1: GND
  • Pin 2/4: Input (-15V)
  • Pin 3: Output (-12V)

However, this is the schematic symbol used in the REV B design:

Pins 1 and 4 need to be swapped, as the pinout of the negative voltage linear regulator is not the same as that of the positive linear regulator (U8, datasheet here).

It looks like this issue was solved via a rework on the DAC REV B:

However, the issue was never documented, and thus has persisted into the DAC REV C design... which explains why that board had issues powering up after assembly. DAC REV C Boards will require the same rework as the REV B.

This issue is to be resolved in the "DAC REV D" design.
