Regarding implementation in long text

Hello,
I am trying to do hierarchical multi-label text categorization. Do you think the methodology in this paper can be implemented for long text as well? I have collection of news articles which are at average 700 words in length and which have upto 8 labels. Do you think the methodology included in this paper by changing certain hyper parameters could be implemented?
