Update themeProvider.theme "extend" overload for new theme DSL

themeprovider.theme has an overload Theme -> Theme that extends the existing theme. It should probably be updated somehow for the new theme DSL (#2).
However, I can't get this overload to work, even in its current form. It seems to have no effect at all no matter what I try.
Does anybody have any idea how it's supposed to work?
