[Dawn] 'Click and hover' does not work when variants are selected

Describe the current behavior
When on a product page using Click and hover Image zoom disallows click and hover to work when you select a variant.
Describe the expected behavior
Once the click and hover setting is enabled then any variant selected the zoom type will work.
Version information (Dawn, browsers and operating systems)
- Dawn Version: 12.0.0 - 14.0.0
- Chrome Version 125.0.6422.113 (Official Build) (arm64)
- macOS Version 14.5
Possible solution
Workaround: If you disable the Hide other variants’ media after selecting a variant then the click and hover setting will work as expected but this should not be connected to this setting

Hey team, just picking up the ticket that spawned this issue, the merchant also noted that they're seeing only a white screen when trying to zoom on an image when having Hide other variants media turned off (in order to resolve the above.)
I can replicate this on my own test store >> Video of that here.
This is using BrowserStack on an iPhone 12 using Safari, but the merchant stated that this is happening for them on "iPhone, Samsung and Huawei (both with Wi-Fi line and with mobile data) all with a different operator. Browsers used on PC Chrome, Edge and Firefox also in incognito mode."
No custom code or apps that are seemingly causing this, as it's happening on my test store on a fresh Origin theme as well as their store.
