Audio rate setting does not seem to save

Playing AD 1.8 using Spiked August 2022 release on windows.
Every time I boot up the game it reverts back to CD quality (41000Hz) audio, but the menu still shows it's set on DVD. Toggling the option restores the audio immediately.
