Long hotkeys spill over buttons in menu

When combining modifier keys with keys that have long names the hotkey spills over boundaries in the window, making the menu look bad. Is it possible to replace words like "Shift" and "Space" with special characters/icons that aren't as large?

Actually, I think I've only managed to do this with Control + Space/Enter/Insert etc. Perhaps "Control" could be changed to "Ctrl," which would match how it appears on most keyboards anyways. .
