Strings.dll?

Opened this issue · 4 comments

Hi, I'm following the instructions for basic installation and have copied fonts and chimera.ini into the Custom Edition game folder. But I cannot find a strings.dll to copy into my folder, all I see are .rc files in a strings folder and I don't know how implementing that in my folder would work. New to downloading stuff from github but I'm trying lol.

Any help is appreciated

It sounds like you copied in the source tree, not the actual compiled files.

Go here: https://github.com/SnowyMouse/chimera/releases

Download the .7z and extract its contents

Oh yeah that worked thanks

But now I launched haloce.exe and it's not showing any option to play single player. only multi

Chimera doesn't add the Campaign button. Join the Halo: CE Refined Discord for instructions and download links for the Refined for Custom Edition. It's a campaign and multiplayer map restoration project best paired with Chimera and CEnshine(Xbox shader restoration plugin for Custom Edition).

If you have "Retail" (the branch of the game only distributed via CD-ROM), then I recommend playing the Refined campaign for that branch, instead. Unlike Custom Edition and Trial, Retail allows multiple save slots instead of just one. However, the CEnshine plugin is currently only made for Custom Edition. It's an unfortunate trade-off.

EDIT: forgot to add the Halo: CE Refined Discord invite.

It is worth mentioning that Chimera does enable the campaign button on Custom Edition if you have a full set of campaign maps installed and the ui.map matches the map-CRC32 of a stock ui.map.

The above comment still applies though, you need a port of the campaign maps installed to play them on Custom Edition.
