I discovered that you can actually transfer stuff from/to cottages furniture in areas protected by "protector redo" of other players :).
Update
I've thinked a bit more about it and I take my words back, because in default MTG chest in protected area can be accessed by anyone, so your open shelf can naturally be assumed as unprotected chest-like.
Not an issue, can be closed. Sorry for inconvenience.
