Hello,

Many thanks for your hard work.

I have observed a strange font family name resolution under desktop software as LibreOffice.
Each font file is seen as almost a different family name.

The results is 98 new font families for all font files (120).
it's really hard to know which style fits together.

Due to this LibreOffice is adding simulated style as Italic for many style as in this example

Merriweather 6pt Black
	style=6pt Black,Regular

and do not use your original style

Merriweather Black
	style=6pt Black Italic,Italic

Why there is not only one family Merriweather with one different style per font file ?

I’m not sure why you are not getting everything under one family name. It is our intent that you get it with one family. Have you tried the variable font?

I have observed a strange font family name resolution under desktop software as LibreOffice.
Each font file is seen as almost a different family name.

The results is 98 new font families for all font files (120).
it's really hard to know which style fits together.

Due to this LibreOffice is adding simulated style as Italic for many style as in this example

You are seeing so many fonts, and faked italics, and faked bold because they are not linked correctly. So the last couple versions I have made myself fixed versions which work properly in LibeOffice (and Word).
I can post them for you if you would like to give them a try.
For use in Affinity Publisher and other DTP apps I also divided the Typographic Family into separate families by width. I find 120 fonts in one family difficult to work with. Scrolling through 120 fonts in multiple widths in alphabetical order is a giant PITA.
Tested thoroughly in LO. Work fine now.

Hello,
Every time I tested a variable font, only one style is visible or discovered as the regular style but none of the other standard styles (bold, italic, ...) so Desktop software like Office or LibreOffice is generating a faked Bold or Italic style and none of the extended styles (Light, Semi, Condensed, ..) are proposed even if they are available inside the variable font.

After much research, variable fonts are not yet supported by many desktop applications.
Variable fonts seems to be a good choice for Web, CSS, but other than that, static fonts are a better choice and widely supported.

I'm not using many DTP apps, just Scribus on Linux or InDesign on Windows when I need it but essentially LibreOffice or sometimes Office. But It's perfect for me.
