an impressive home page

EdgeJs has an impressive homepage. This is pretty cool. Maybe not fit for TestStack homepage; but I think we need to do something a bit more impressive with our homepage and docos.
It certainly is impressive; only thing I don't like is it's hard to see all of what's there at a glance - you have to arrow through it all).
I agree it would be good to have a more catchy homepage.
I actually don't like that, I didn't know what to do, tried scrolling and nothing happened...
What is the purpose of the homepage? I'm assuming it's to get a high-level overview and then redirect to http://docs.teststack.net/ to drill into the details?
I always liked http://www.ninject.org/ home page
Correct @jason-roberts.
Hahaha, I know. You're both right about it being confusing. I guess what I was trying to highlight was that we need an impressive homepage. Also the docs website has a few aesthetic issues and is a bit, ermmm, boring maybe :p
Yeah I agree, deffo room for improvement - I'm assuming that ideally you want the look and feel from the homepage to flow through to the docs site? Both using same colors, new logo, styles etc?
Just thinking out loud but if both sites could be made bootstrap-ready then they'd get responsiveness, etc for free - also it's easy to get a paid theme such as the metro one, or any number of free themes, etc.

Yeah, I'd say so.
WRT bootstrap, I am not a big fan tbh. I think it's quite bloated, overkill for our needs, and frequently seen everywhere. I prefer something leaner & cleaner. Html5Up themes aren't too bad and some of them might fit TestStack. It's just my personal thoughts & quite happy to go for bootstrap if others don't mind it.
I have a love-hate relationship with Bootstrap.
I hate the markup. It's gross.
I love how easy it is to get set up with something that looks awesome really quickly.
My usual stance is if I have a designer with a custom design I will hand roll, otherwise (e.g. proof-of-concept etc.) I'll use Bootstrap.
Yeah, I agree with that. It might actually be quite good to go with a
designer, but failing that bootstrap or html5up.net are good ways to get
something that looks awesome quickly.
With regards to Jason's earlier question about the purpose of the home
page. It is to give a high level overview and then link into the docs
pages, as you say, but hopefully it has potential to be a bit more than
that too. I think TestStack was originally intended to be more than just a
grouping for the projects. We also aspired to be a hub for testing, with
general guidance for testing as well as guidance for the projects. It would
be good if we could consider features that might draw more of a community
in, like perhaps a blog and things like that....?
