Splinter Cell Conviction - NPC LOD models

It's only me, or certain NPC models have their "high" LOD models loaded very close to player?
Which result in creepy persons around you. Not that obvious with enemies (different settings for these?)

Asking because in recent updates mod comes with convictionsettings.ini briefly checked that. But didn't found obvious options.

Not sure, seems fine on my end.

This is how it looks on my machine.
Distance is quite short for model switch, and as said, more noticeable with crowds.
