Smoothing produces unremovable holes

From Discord user Tea:
I managed to reproduce it.

Godot 4.2.1
Terrain3D v.0.9.1-beta

[1] Paint with the "special brushes" onto the ground next to a different terrain
[2] Smooth that area with whatever brush.

Here you can look at it yourself. Please note that this is NOT the scene which I was showing in the gif, but it got the same hole problem.

**Questions from before: **

It does not move or change with the camera.

The square brush works as in: it makes the holes much bigger. Actually any brush does that now.

I did not try the version control part.

It remains after restart.

Further Notes
It does not happen if you do not paint on the edges.

It does not happen if you add an adjacent terrain tile.

Adding an adjacent terrain tile after the issue occurred ain't a solution (unfortunately).

It does not matter which brush you use. It's simply "Raise" / "Lower" and afterwards "Smooth"

Best fix: simply never turn off "Automatic Regions".
