execute external command before and after playing stream

What steps will reproduce the problem?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Is it possible to execute a (configurable) command when Airstream Player
receives a new video? With this function it would be possible to stop another
player (i.e. TV software). Same after playback ends.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Ios 4.3
Please provide any additional information below.

Hi Tom,
I would like to modify the code for interaction with my favorit TV-Software
(http://www.dvbviewer.com/en/index.php). The Airstream-Player should send a
message via COM to the TV software if airplay starts or stops. It should tell
the TV software to switch to background if a video is played by airplay.
Your software is under GPL V2. However I would ask you whether you agree with
the change?
