1.5.0 gets detected as a virus

Closed this issue · 5 comments

Avast ,Jiangmin and AVG is known for false reports

you should report to Avast Jiangmin and AVG that this is not a virus

I have sent samples of 1.5.0 to AVG, Avast, and Jiangmin. There is nothing further we can do.

For Jiangmin in particular, I will note that if you Google Jiangmin, you find a bunch of people complaining about it reporting false positives in popular pieces of software like VLC.

Avast and AVG (they're basically the same company) say that this should be fixed shortly

While Avast and AVG did in fact realize we are a false positive, McAfee-GW-Edition now thinks we're "Artemis". I have submitted a false positive report to them.

Jiangmin never responded to my support email and it seems we will just have to cope. As a reminder, the Google search results for "Jiangmin" are dominated by security vulnerabilities in the product and people complaining that it detects VLC as a virus. Feel free to make your own decisions about whether to trust it.
