Periodic refresh

Since the map content is (still) fairly dynamic, can we put a refresh on the page?
Although I believe a tag in head like
meta http-equiv="refresh" content="120" // (120 second refresh)
would work, it may not be 'best' practice...

We've had a number of comments and issues around this problem, including "That site doesn't work any more", etc.
