How to connect to LXD containers running on host from the Windlass Docker container?

Late night thoughts:
Store DNS/SD entries in Consul that map to the hosts hostname + subdomain, traffic goes from Windlass to host reverse proxy to lxd container.
Have service running in lxd container that wraps the docker socket with a cert protected reverse proxy
