Boundary issues

Hey, I want to know whether those relative smoothing methods (like moving window or convolution smoothing) consider the boundary issues of spectrum data. In the normal condition, those methods will decrease the dimension of the original data due to algorithm parameters (like moving window size 3,5,7...).
