Use a real calendar on the hours page

Closed this issue · 3 comments

Even though the page says that office hours are in 50 minute blocks, this isn't visually conveyed in the table. Explicitly showing scheduled and unscheduled time in blocks, like a calendar app might do, would fix this.

Does this bother anybody else?

An actual calendar sounds extremely crufty to me. We only have hours on weekdays during class times. There would be even more blank space in a calendar app which would probably look worse. I don't think there is any issue with how the time blocks are visually conveyed in the table. Especially since we use the same time blocks as UW's class schedule, which after a week or two of classes, everyone on campus should be able to easily recognize the time blocks

I've looked at calendar libraries myself, and they all look crufty or
difficult to include. I'm fine with the current <table>-based style.
Maybe there's a way to format it to make it more user-friendly, but still
keep the same structure?
