Issue description:
On my Lenovo Legion Go running SteamOS 3.7.14, many games are forced into a 16:9 aspect ratio, even though the display is a native 16:10 panel (2560x1600).
The issue:
- Games such as Elden Ring, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Rayman Legends offer 2560x1600 (16:10) resolution in their settings.
- However, regardless of the resolution chosen, the game is displayed in 16:9 with black bars or forced scaling.
- Example: Elden Ring initially displayed correctly in 16:10 on first launch, but after changing the resolution once, it permanently rendered in 16:9.
Attempted fixes:
-
Gamescope launch options (e.g. gamescope -w 2560 -h 1600 -W 2560 -H 1600 -- %command%) → caused games fail launching (only Steam logo + audio).
-
Display settings in SteamOS (Automatic / Fill) → no effect, still 16:9 output.
Expected result: Games should render natively in 16:10 (2560x1600) as offered in settings.
Actual result: Games are forced into 16:9, regardless of selected resolution.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Install and run a game (e.g. Elden Ring) on Lenovo Legion Go with SteamOS 3.7.14.
- Select 2560x1600 (16:10) in the in-game graphics settings.
- Game still renders in 16:9, even though 16:10 resolution is offered.
I’m experiencing the exact same issue on my Lenovo Legion Go after installing the latest SteamOS. In Game Mode, the Steam menu and games are displayed with black bars, as if the system is forcing a 16:9 aspect ratio, even though the device has a native 16:10 (2560×1600) display.
This results in part of the screen being unused, and some games appear cropped or improperly scaled. I’ve tried adjusting the display settings (Auto, Fill, etc.) and setting custom Gamescope launch options like
gamescope -w 2560 -h 1600 -W 2560 -H 1600 -- %command%,
but either nothing changes or the game fails to launch.
It seems like SteamOS is not yet fully optimized for the Legion Go’s 16:10 screen. I’d really appreciate it if this could be addressed in a future update. Thanks!
