The otherDimensionsCancelSleep option in the config file is not written, i have searched for it, and it's just mentioned in line 173 and line 177 but there is no option to actually set it to false to allow to actually sleep and set the spawn point where you want in the nether (the bed just explodes). Even if you disable bed exploding, it just turns back into item mode instead of staying as a bed and the spawn point appears in a random spot.( nether world spawning area)
As mentioned in the changelog, I had to remove this feature as some of the relevant code changed in 1.8

I will keep this issue open in case I decide to take another crack at it though
