Addition of Keyboard Layouts and Request for Assistance in Testing

Vishram1123 opened this issue · 6 comments

I have used a script to generate GJS-OSK layouts for every single layout available through localectl. If possible, could people use this as a megathread for reporting on the status of layouts they find are using (correct/incorrect) based on its behavior compared to what they are used to?

Note:
Dead keys show up as the D character in layouts that use them, and there is no way to work around this (other than to manually regenerate every single layout (EDIT: while checking for dead keys) but this already took a week to do so I kinda don't wanna...) because dead keys correspond to the symbol U+0044, which is a capital D.

Fixed the dead key issue (I think), but let me know if a layout needs correction here

They keyvoard works great including the norwegian keys. However there's something off as shown in the image. No function keys are showing, but they do work as normal when i tap where they should be.

@oyvindknustad Noted, what are your settings? Also, do any error messages show up in the extension manager? (also if you could please reply in #49 for the same issue, that would be great)

Greek layout is fine. Thanks for a great extension.

The only issue I see is that the rows are not all the same size.

Also, as a suggestion for future updates, it would be nice to have a way to customize the icons of the keys or to add more keys for special functions (eg brightness, volume etc). That way the extension becomes kind of a keyboard/system control that gnome lacks. But again, as it is, it is infinitely better than the stock keyboard.

@iceman358 Sorry there isn't really a way to fix that as described in #57 without messing up the whole layout; it is caused by row sizing forced to be integers, and rounding shrinks some of the rows. I will see if I can make modifiable icons, but I think system control is kinda out of the scope of this extension. As of right now, I am using a heavily trimmed down and modified version of Aylur's Widgets for system control; I could release that...?

I was thinking that since there is a row above the keys for moving the keyboard (and it is empty), it could be used as a MacBook keyboard, that with the narrow touch screen.
