simple noauth GET /api/freeleech

I'd like to see a simple endpoint that people can use to check if wcd is in freeleech. It seems the announcement process for this is still a bit inconvenient. I'm talking about something as simple as:

that would allow us users with a bit of scripting knowledge to easily wire up our own notifications.

To clarify, I'm just asking about an endpoint to check for site-wide freeleech. Also, why was the freeleech api removed (somebody told me there used to be a specific freeleech api for listing freeleech torrents)?

I've now found that variations of this question have been asked already, and It seems more appropriate for this to be on the wcd forums, so I'm closing the issue.
