... swiping back should take you to the previous chat and not on the main page. Its kind of a usability issue. No idea if it affect memory usage or performance but it feels weird swiping back and not going to the previous page.

Agree that it feels weird - basically a left over of the initial steps when this behavior facilitated the over all chat and status handling. I keep it as enhancement in the issue list.
