in install_package, the dist=="linuxmint", maybe some other mechanism should be used to identify that it's debian/ubuntu. E.g. "cat /etc/upstream-release/lsb-release" gives
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=22.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=jammy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish"
