time_series: date filter doesn't work as expected

Date filter begins from Jun 6 2018, but a point on May 28 2018 was shown instead.

should remove top2 etc. options when there are no datapoints in the date period; edit: actly not just when there are no datapoints, i think this happens whenever the number of datapoints < k in the top_k
