Why does this library work where others fail?

Hi @ZJONSSON - just wondering why this library works to read files other libs can't read. I'm working with .snappy.parquet files written to S3 by AWS Wrangler / SDK Pandas, and hoping to learn what changes in this repo have fixed the errors thrown by the other packages, e.g. in parquets I get:
