Option to show speed gauge (% max speed) if progress not known

I had a crazy idea for PV.
How about, if the total size isn't known, turn the progress bar into a speed-gauge instead? Like "iftop" PV could just keep checking the fasted speed pv has seen, and have the bar as a percentage of the maximum.

That seems infinitely more useful than the current simple back-and-forth infinite slider.
