We should talk through the following points and establish a general direction for the game:
General
- Design pillars
- The fundamental axioms underlying the game.
- What is the game about?
- Genre(s) (Point and Click)
- Tone of the Game (Dark, with possible humor here and there)
- Target audience (Most likely Mature)
- The desired ESRB rating for the game.
- Platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux)
Vision
- Player Experience (The player is an outside observer)
- Who is the player?
- From what perspective will they experience the story?
- What emotions do we want them to feel?
- Key Moments
- Initial impression (The player is thrown into the middle of the action)
- Struggles to overcome
- Major achievements/victories
- Visual and Audio style
- Game World (Fairly modern, nothing out of the ordinary)
- What is it like from the player's perspective?
Design
- Core loops
- Objectives and Progression
- What are the short-term and long-term goals?
- How does the game evolve from start to finish?
- Game Systems
- What is the minimal amount of systems/mechanics necessary for the game to be playable?
