Handshake failure

I've tried to run both IPEDSInstChar02to16.do and IPEDSDirInfo02to16.do, but in both cases I get Received fatal alert: handshake_failure. In both cases it happens during the loop for downloading from NCES. I tried to run online as well as running the dofile from a local file. I am running Stata 13.1 on MacOS. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for putting this together!
So sorry about this. Would love to help you get up and running with this. On my end, seems to be working for me on Stata 15 this morning.
That error message looks like a connectivity issue. Could you describe your internet connection? Are you on a campus network? Work network? Home network? Are you using a vpn? Also, any chance you could connect to a different network to test for better results?
My first attempt to replicate the error was to turn my internet off and run the do file. That caused a host not found error. Will keep working on it.

No worries! I tried on my computer on campus as well and the same thing happened. Maybe it's just an issue with stata 13? Doesn't seem like that should be the case, but that's the only thing I can think of at the moment.
A note from Stata technical support indicates that support for https was added in Stata 13.
However for copy to work, it needed the update. Try the command update all and then try the script(s) in this repo again.
