document needing shake, parallel installed

I'm quite new to haskell tool chains and got stuck on getting up and running. Turns out I didn't have shake installed and I had to run stack install shake and then things were dandy.
I think documenting the needed binaries and tips on how to install them would be great.
What is the parallel binary referred to here?
