I’m using this Aideepen WEMOS D1 Mini Pro - 16M Bytes External Antenna Connector ESP8266 WIFI IoT Board but Home Assistant is not discovering it. I know it’s connecting to my WiFi, because my router shows it and I can ping it.
What can I do to debug this?

Check to confirm that Home Assistant MQTT Discovery is enabled, and try monitoring your MQTT broker messages using MQTT Lens (or similar) to make sure the device is sending messages.

Hi,
The automation is like the one on github. When I typed it in, I had typed
state changes as ON
and OFF in the relevant automations for the binary_sensor.carpresence and
this is why I couldn't get the automations to work. It did take a while to
track down, mainly because I'm feeling my way. I left the state changes for
the cover (garage door) out of the automation as I don't have anything to
check this state and also have remotes and a wireless button in the garage
that can also change the state of the door. There seemed little point
therefore at this stage in having them in the automation - I will add them
later.
Thanks for your help and sharing your project.
