@vavroom Thanks for the submit. Would like to add to Confa11y, but on the site, I'm not seeing what kind of services AccessU Conf will have? Specifics like live captioning, mobility access, etc.

If you know, can you share more?

@nickttng Thanks for that. It was on the site last year, thought it was there this year. I've asked the folks to update the site. Here are some of the things available.

  • Venue is wheelchair accessible (I'm a wheelchair user and had no issues accessing any of the sessions, lunch areas, etc. Classes held in regular classrooms, not amphitheater style)
  • SIgn Language interpreters for all the plenary sessions and events. Interpreters available on request to attend classes for Deaf attendees.
  • Volunteer guides to help folks with vision impairments getting around the venue (by request - we found many people prefer to explore on their own).
  • No scent policy
  • Other accommodations considered on request. Basically, if it's doable, it'll be done.

@vavroom Added to Confa11y

  • Mobility Access
  • Sign Language Interpreting
  • Blind / Vision Access
  • Code of Conduct (that I noticed AccessU site has)

For this one:

  • Other accommodations considered on request. Basically, if it's doable, it'll be done.

If haven't yet, I'd suggest the site has some kind of accessibility pledge or statement on the site to make that clear. Also, I'll get a tweet out about this conf soon. Thanks for the submission!
