Entity 'agrave' not defined error

When I try to read the content of a seemingly normal epub I get this error message:

XMLSyntaxError: Entity 'agrave' not defined, line 33, column 69

I have analyzed literally thousands of other ebooks and this is the first time it happened. Any idea why?

The issue was in the epub itself. One of the xhtml docs used custom entities like &agrave that were not referenced in the DTD file.
