My kubectl version
is:
Client Version: version.Info{Major:"1", Minor:"17", GitVersion:"v1.17.3", GitCommit:"06ad960bfd03b39c8310aaf92d1e7c12ce618213", GitTreeState:"clean", BuildDate:"2020-02-13T18:08:14Z", GoVersion:"go1.13.8", Compiler:"gc", Platform:"darwin/amd64"}
Server Version: version.Info{Major:"1", Minor:"17", GitVersion:"v1.17.2", GitCommit:"59603c6e503c87169aea6106f57b9f242f64df89", GitTreeState:"clean", BuildDate:"2020-01-18T23:22:30Z", GoVersion:"go1.13.5", Compiler:"gc", Platform:"linux/amd64"}
kubectl krew install tree
looked like it completed with no errors.
Attempting to run the plugin results in:
❯ kubectl tree
Error: unknown command "tree" for "kubectl"
Run 'kubectl --help' for usage.
K8s version is 1.17.2. Krew appears to be functioning properly.

can you send kubectl plugins list
output.
I'm guessing you haven't added ~/.krew/bin to your path correctly as instructed.

❯ kubectl plugin list
The following compatible plugins are available:
/usr/local/bin/kubectl-krew

yep, I'm guessing you installed krew via homebrew (which isn't supported) and you didn't read the caveat message it printed. Run brew info krew
and follow the correct installation instructions to add the required bin directory to your PATH.
