Multiple instances one over other

Dear Sirs,
I've tried to launch multiple scripts which show different text over the screen, sometime it happen that the screen goes entirely black for a few seconds, when the script is started.
Is this supposed to be correct?
Are multiple instances allowed or I'm using it in the wrong way?
