This happens when having a multi-Projet build and using the build file:

plugins {
    war
    id("org.akhikhl.gretty") version "2.0.0"
}

dependencies {
    runtimeOnly(project(":<other project name>"))
}

Exception is:

Workaround: Add this to your build.gradle.kts

Got the same error with single-project build

The configuration :runtimeClasspath was resolved from a thread not managed by Gradle.

This project appears to be dead though :(

@michaelzangl, @tonowie - This issue, and a bunch more, have been fixed in a Gretty fork.
