making new data

hey
i want to make some new photos and use them to predict its class
i use paint to make new photos and them resize them to 28*28 and i grayscale them
and when i use these photos to predic there classes i get wrong answer all time
would you mind please guide me how to make , open in grey scale and use it to predict its class ?
