Unable to use grafana variables in tooltip mappings

Grafana Version: v9.1.2
flowcharting version: 0.9.1

I have defined variables in grafana and then tried them to use in flowcharting plugin tooltip mapping Label field but no luck. The same variable substitution works in xml. Can you please help here?

also in the thresholds value. Is there anyway that we can use variables?

@algenty Could you please confirm if we can substitute variables in tooltip mappings and threshold values? Not sure what I am doing wrong. If not do you suggest any workaround?
